Visitor & Tourism
The Visitor visa lets you visit Australia for tourism or business visitor activities.
Tourism includes holidays, recreation and seeing family or friends. Business visitor activities may include attending a conference, negotiation or an exploratory business visit.
You cannot work for or provide services to a business or organization in Australia or sell goods or services to the public.
The Visitor visa is for people who want to travel to Australia as tourists, for business visitor activities or to visit family. It is a temporary visa.
This visa has four streams:
1. Tourist stream: for people travelling to Australia for a holiday, recreation or to visit family and friends and for other purposes not related to business or medical treatment.
2. Business Visitor stream: for business people travelling to Australia for a short business visit. This includes making a general business or employment enquiry, negotiations or participating in a conference.
3. Sponsored Family stream: for people travelling to Australia to visit their family. You must have a sponsor who might be asked to provide a bond.
4. Approved Destination Status stream: for people from the People’s Republic of China who are travelling in an organised tour group.
